To show the 10-digit box in order to get the avatar:

1. Turn CSS off in your browser. Go to the Grundo Warehouse. Now turn off CSS: in Firefox, you can do this with View > Page Style > No Style. In IE, View > Style > No Style. In other browsers, look for a similar menu set or look for the option to turn off CSS under Tools > Options (or equivalent).

   With CSS off, the 10-digit code box should now be visible, and you can enter the code A384J-228P1 to receive the avatar (if you don't have it already!)

2. Use Javascript to show the 10-digit code box. Go to the Grundo Warehouse. While on that page, go to your address bar and delete everything there (the http:// blah blah). Then copy and paste ONE of the following codes into the (empty) address bar and hit enter. This should run a Javascript snippet that causes the 10-digit code box to be displayed on the page, rather than hidden.

Thanks to haettr for locating this original show() function that was used before the page update!

For the interested web monkeys: We're calling on the "document" element of the page, selecting the item with the ID of "ten_code" (the DIV that is currently hidden). Then, we access its "style" object and the "display" property inside the style object, setting its value to "block" (which means 'show') as opposed to "none" (which means 'hidden'). The void(0) at the end prevents the page from refreshing.

IMPORTANT: I don't know if TNT has approved of dynamic Javascript snippets like this for the purpose of showing a DIV that was on the page in the first place. Please use this option at your own judgment (or just try option #1).

TNT -- if you have qualms with this workaround, kindly email the Avatarlog staff or remove the 10-digit code DIV entirely from the page :)

Random Trivia: Aside from Avatar Collector, this is the only other secret avatar so far to have a redundant "Avatar" in its official name. So it's a little awkward saying "the Quiguki April Fools Avatar avatar"... :)

Last March (2008), the AAA avatar was NOT given out. It is unknown whether it will be given out this year. It may be completely retired, or maybe TNT may choose to re-release it again this year (you never know!). If we hear any information regarding the avatar, we'll be sure to post it up!

One of the possible items you can get from this box is A Mysterious Valentines Card, which can be used to get the Valentines Site Theme on the 14th :) There's also an upcoming opportunity to get the Valentine Chia avatar!

To get the avatar, send the I Love You Neogreeting to someone on the 13th of 14th of February. There should be an alert at the top of the site to remind you :)

In summary, we found roughly the same trends as in the past years: nearly 100% of those who received the site theme collected their prizes daily, but not everyone who collected daily received the site theme. This year in particular, it seems likely that the few glitchy days had an effect on the site theme (read the "Conclusions" analysis for more info!).

The data from our surveys in the last two years show that the "method" to earning the site theme is most likely to visit the Advent Calendar every day. However, we have some small margins of error and some stray cases where this did not happen, so we're trying to solidify our data with this year's poll.

The best recommendation so far shows that visiting the Advent Calendar every day yields a high chance of earning the site theme, but there are some "glitchy" cases where visiting everyday might still not get you the site theme.

In last year's November AAA challenge, the Gamesmaster Aaa avatar was NOT given out. However, TNT is pretty hard to predict. It's possible they might award it now since the avatar wasn't given out in this year's March challenges either.

» Edna & Deadly Dice Avatars

In the past, we've had reports that people seem more likely to get the Edna - Cackle avatar on Halloween. Whether or not this is true, it's hard to tell, but why not give Edna's Quests a go today?

I would only recommend completing three-item quests, as all reports of the avatar we've gotten from members have mentioned getting it after a three (and not one or two) item quest.

If you normally can't get online at midnight NST, today is your chance to visit Deadly Dice! It is open all day today, instead of only between midnight and 1am. See our indepth guide for more info.

Finally, you can permanently earn the Halloween Sidebar for Neopets by loading any standard Neopets page between 11:59pm and midnight NST.

In the past, Neopets has gotten pretty laggy, so be prepared and don't miss out. Also, do not refresh on petpages because they will not work for the sidebar.

According to our indepth guide, he was also seen around this time last year in 2007 (but on the 23rd of October, rather than the 22nd as it is today). If anyone knows of a petpage or other resource that lists more confirmed sighting dates of Punchbag Sid, please let us know so we can hopefully aggregate more data to determine any trends!

A few people have mentioned that the avatar seems "easier" to get (about four people in a row got in on this Neoboard). Of course, since the avatar is random, "easier" is kind of hard to judge. Also, keep in mind that although something might be easier that doesn't mean it's always cheaper! :P

Nevertheless, if you don't have the Lever of Doom avatar yet, now is as good a time as any to give it a few pulls! Thanks to the guild messageboard and lyhardy1's board in the Help Chat for this color-update news.

Thanks to information from user 'facials' and other testers, we have confirmed the fact that this avatar is actually obtainable with multiple items - as long as their estimated values sum to at least 5 million. For example, a Faerie Queen Doll (estimated value: 2 mil) and a Mask of Coltzan (estimated value: 3.7 mil) will work because their estimated value total is greater than 5m.

Several folks have reported that staff members replied that this development is NOT new, so it seems that simply few people in the past tried or publicly announced this fact :)

Some new alternative methods can be found in our indepth guide. We have only listed suggestions that involve 50 items or fewer.

Please note that if you choose to use cheaper methods that involves 50+ items in your inventory, you should do so at your own risk. There are rumors that people have been frozen for overstuffing, but they have not been confirmed (and I personally haven't seen anyone yet who is 100% sure that they were frozen for overstuffing anyways o.o).

ps. This should be fixed now. The statistics pages (Most Owned, etc.) are a bit inaccurate due to the site inactivity for the past few weeks. Please disregard all the incorrect data there for now :)

» Font Dump for FONTastic Users

I've quickly whipped up a "font backup" page for FONTastic users. This is basically a raw HTML page that contains the coding for all of your saved fonts, and it is meant to be saved to your computer so that you have a file with all your fonts. Because the Avatarlog site will be up and down while we do maintenance, you can use this file to access your font codes when our site is offline :)

Click here to access the font backup page. To save the file, go to File > Save Page (or similar option), which should prompt you to save the file as a webpage to your computer's harddrive.

If you're like me and just normally stay logged in forever, you might want to refresh your memory and check/reset your password, or update your email if you think you might need to use our Lost Password feature in the near future :P

If you didn't read the FAQ posted in the Neopets news last Friday, there is a new feature called Transfer that allows safe transfer of a pet between two accounts.

Please be careful if you are lending your pets! Transfers will ensure your pet reaches the specified owner, but you can only send one and receive one pet per month. (So, if you wanted to lend someone for a pet in return, you wouldn't be able to adopt the new pet AND receive back your original pet on the same account until the next month.) Also, there is still the age old scam of "you send me your pet first" (and then they disappear and never return your pet).

» Server Downtime

Sometime in the future, Avatarlog will be inaccessible for a few days while our server hardware is being relocated. I'm not sure when this will happen - it may not be for a few weeks/months(?) - but just an early heads up for everyone :) I will post an update in the news when a more definite time is determined for the site's downtime.

» Winter Site Theme Charts

I've put up the data charts for 2007's Winter Sidebar poll on Arid's petpage. The new charts are located below the 2006 charts; if you scroll down you should see them labeled as 2007 data.

I haven't written up the conclusions yet, as I'm still reading through all of the user-submitted comments about what people thought did or didn't help them towards getting the sidebar. When those are finished, I'll add them onto the petpage! :)

I found this score hilariously easy to get, so you should definitely go for Ace Zafara if you need it :P

An updated version of Korbats Lab has just been released. At the time of posting, the Freaked! avatar is currently unavailable: people on the high score table last night received trophies, but no Korbats Lab avatar was given out to the top 50. Hopefully Neopets will keep the top-50 method to get the avatar, and they've just forgotten to add it into the new game :) We'll keep this spot in the news updated if there are any changes!

I've gotten some neomails recently about people bypassing our filters and putting up CGs here on Avatarlog. While our filters should catch any stray coding, I've double checked the most recent updated custom list names, profiles, etc. and nothing malicious was spotted. Also, unless there is a security hole on Neopets, it shouldn't be possible for Avatarlog pages to ever access your Neopets cookie anyways.

It's always better to be safe than sorry though, so I've also reworked many of the scripts that allow user input to make them more secure from JS insertions. I'd like to thank James for pointing out pages that needed the most "beefing up" script-wise :)

Why do some games appear twice on my Top Gamer list?

Those games have two different versions: a regular one, and a "mirror" version. The game should be exactly the same in terms of gameplay, but you'll see it counts twice on your "Games Played" list ;) Use the "Play!" links on your list to access both versions.

This sponsor game doesn't work anymore! :(

Look for the red [x] box listed with that entry. You can click that to report a non-working game to the staff so it will be removed.

I have no AutoAdd points. Can I still use Top Gamer?

No worries, if you currently don't have any points, your AutoAdd points in queue get reset at the beginning of each month. So at the beginning of September, you'll get two (we may increase this) "free" points that you can use with Top Gamer.

Or, if you have a friend with AutoAdd points, you can ask them to generate a list for you ;)

When I click the links on the main Top Gamer page, nothing happens and the page doesn't change.

The most commonly used neoHTML special characters should be appearing correctly now (unless, of course, it was a broken character to begin with!), and you may now also resume storing, editing, and deleting any fonts. If you find an old font with a broken character, try re-saving it with the fixed character. Please note for some of the lesser used characters, it might be necessary to save them using the alt code (such as ¢ instead of ¢).

Gnome #2 would like to announce that our Top Gamer Database has finished beta testing, and should be ready for public release quite soon :) This system will allow you to input the source code of your "Games Played" page, and using that, our database generates a list of games you haven't played yet - a great way to help reach 250 scores for the Top Gamer avatar. We need to modify several things, and read through all of our testers' comments to see if there are any of their suggestions that we would add or implement.

Gnome #3 would like to kindly remind all members to confirm their membership on all Avatarlog accounts they own. Just in case anyone missed the big green box at the top of the site. Yeah.

Also, new member registrations are still on hold. I'm aiming to have them back in about two weeks: hopefully I can stay on schedule with the scripting and be able to re-open registration at that point :)

Ever since the avatar was released one year ago, hard-working Neopians have tried and discovered a myriad of ways that don't work.

Some people have theorized that the avatar can only be gotten on Blumaroo Day. This is certainly a possibility (although unlikely, in my personal opinion)... however, there is a chance that something (already tried) might be successful if done today, Blumaroo Day.

Please take a few minutes today to brainstorm and give a few theories a whirl! ... even if your theory is as simple as "having out 203 neopoints while visiting Chef Bonju's cooking pot". Hey, at least it's one possibility down!

There are lists of tried/untried theories in the petpages linked on our indepth guide. (I'd imagine that most of these theories were tried after Blumaroo Day. One might work today, who knows?)

This avatar is simply called Goggles on your avatar list. It will appear with the secret avatars in the drop-down bar, and also comes with a label that states [doesn't count in collection].

Small note: While the avatar doesn't count on your userlookup, it DOES appear to add one to your entry on the Avatar High Score Table, contrary to what TNT has said. I've sent in a bug report about this, and hopefully it will be amended soon! Seems to be fixed now!

» How to get it?

You can get the avatar by trying on random things in the NC Mall!

Many people have said they got the avatar after trying on the Green X-Ray Goggles (it's the third item in the "Accessories" category). I would recommend trying that on first, and then continuing with other items if that doesn't work.

To try on items in the NC Mall, first go to the link and look for the following: Try on. Clicking on that will allow your pet to "try on" the clothing/accessory.

There is no avatar event though, so just keep on trying random items and check your avatar list once in awhile :)

YOU DON'T NEED TO BUY ANYTHING TO GET THIS AVATAR! The note in the news probably refers to the fact that players from certain countries/age groups may not be able to view the NC Mall and try on items.

Because this avatar doesn't count toward your avatar total, we are treating it like a "default" avatar, as we did for the Premium Space Faerie avatar. This means you will NOT be able to check it off on your Avatarlog profile!

(Note: I've gotten a few scattered reports of this or that petpet still not working... if that is your case, the best course of action is to probably send Neopets a bug report about your individual case!)

» Petpetpets

As noticed by Wuwwy on the Neoitems Forums, all petpetpets are now VERY easy to attach to a petpet! I assume this is related to the current plot ;)

This is both good and bad news. For anyone who has been trying to attach a Mootix for the related avatar (or any other petpetpet), the little creatures should now hop onto your petpet without having to refresh a zillion times first. *cheer*

However, be very careful if you are handling petpetpets and do NOT want them to attach to your petpet. Several users have gotten them as gifts/investments and before they could put them in trades or in the SDB, the petpetpet had already attached to their petpet! (And remember there is no way to remove a petpetpet - they will just disappear.)

» Petpet Avatars

Lastly, we've been getting a lot of email over the recent problem with petpet-related avatars, so here is a clarification on the issue :D

Currently, all petpet-related avatars (that normally are awarded on a Pet Lookup) are NOT working. This applies to all aged-petpet avatars, as well as certain clickables where a petpet is needed.

To Get: In order to get the new Evil Coconut avatar, you need to completely knock down a Coconut in Coconut Shy (and win 10k, a coconut item, and the avatar). There is no avatar event.

As far we know, playing Coconut Shy is a random process and there is no strategy or special way to "throw harder" (although aiming correctly helps!). Some people have said that holding down the mouse before releasing will toss harder, but that didn't really work for me. You can only toss 20 tries per day.

A small portion of people who have done this did NOT get the avatar, so it might be random when winning in this way... Thanks to uniquename123 for informing us that exploding the Coconut (and winning the jackpot) does NOT get you the avatar, and to malefic_puppy for providing the official avatar name.

The game isn't rigged... I promise! *shifty eyes*

And speaking of Coconuts, we recently moved the Coco Roll avatar into the "Retired" category in our avatar checklists.

If you recall earlier this year, the cellphone game provider JAMDAT closed and the main Coco Roll page was removed from the Neopets site. In early March, all codes stopped being accepted, even those submitted into the special "direct link" we provided.

Because no codes have been working since then (and therefore no one can get the avatar if the codes aren't being accepted!) we are putting this avatar into the Unavailable category (unless we hear some news from TNT about it being available). Negg Hunt Solution Page

Congratulations to all who participated and found at least one Negg - we hid them in pretty tough places ;) The solution page (click on the left) explains all of the available Neggs, their locations, and the answers to the final anagram puzzle. We also included some honor mentioned users and some fun facts about the event! For the lucky users who were randomly chosen to be our beta-testing pool, we will supply you with more information about beta testing once that is made ready - we still have a few kinks to work out! D: Cheers and thanks again to all who participated!

» Negg Hunt Updates

Thanks to everyone who participated in our Negg Hunt and congratulations to those who were able to complete it! It was rather dastardly difficult, wasn't it? :o

If by offchance you have some free time and are looking for something challenging to do, you can still try our Negg Hunt by clicking here! Your entry won't be eligible for the beta-test drawing because the official deadline has past, but you can still have fun and get some bragging rights ;)

In the next few days (depending on if I can find some free time in between the various schoolwork, papers and projects that are due soon x.x) we'll post up a solution page, as well as post up the names of the randomly selected beta-test group (that will be chosen from the pool of people who successfully completed the entire Negg Hunt).

In case you were curious:

• Spots for the Negg Hunt opened up every 15 minutes during the week we held the event. (I guess the sun must shone through the clouds every 15 minutes in between all that horrid rain we got!)

• In total, 4,522 Negg Hunters started the event before our official deadline.

• Of those 4522, 526 people completed the Hunt before the deadline. The overwhelming majority of completed entries were correct, although we had a few amusing but incorrect answers ;)

Everyone who completes the Negg Hunt fully and correctly will be entered into a drawing where we will randomly select a pool of members to help beta-test our upcoming feature, the Top Gamer Database :)

Okay, we were supposed to hold an Easter Negg Hunt today, except that caused the site to crash about 8 times in a row and made Starry a VERY unhappy camper D: (However, we all learned an important lesson that current server + lots of pageviews in a short time = big disaster o.o)

Since this is something I'd really like to run, and I'm sure there are a lot of users who would want to participate, I'll work on reformatting it such that we can still hold our Negg Hunt without jeopardizing the rest of the site :3

If you can, start and complete any Aaa/Abigail challenge, and then collect your prize. Check your avatar list. If there is no avatar and you have completed less than 15 challenges, continue playing until you have completed 15 or more, collect your prize(s), and check your list again. If you can't start a new Daily Dare (because you already completed all of yours earlier today) or the above method doesn't work, try going to this link and then click on the head of the person you challenged today. Check your avatar list. If none of the above works, then it seems like either: a) It has not yet been awarded to your account yet due to a "delay" effect (read below). b) You might need to "activate" your avatar by collecting a prize. In this case, try tomorrow and maybe you'll get the avatar when getting your prize then. I would suggest completing as many Daily Dares as you can, and check your avatar list after each prize you collect.

Information About the Avatar

The avatar was first "activated" around 1:40 pm NST (26th). From 1:40 pm onward, many people got this avatar by collecting the prize from any Daily Dare challenge. (It has been confirmed that some people have gotten the avatar from collecting an AAA challenge prize, others collected an Abigail prize. Some people played today's challenge and others got the avatar by using a previous days' challenge.) For some of the people who played their Dare early in the day, the avatar began "appearing" on avatar lists. This might be similar to the Jhudora Day avatar, where TNT belatedly awarded the avatar to people who had earlier completed quests. People have gotten the avatar by beating all Abigail so far, beating all AAA so far, or beating a mix of the two. The opponents you select seem to make no difference whether you could get the avatar or not. (Thanks elementmario222 for confirming all AAA!)
